The Cross-border Electricity Transmission Project between Nepal and India has been Completed and Put into Operation

The cross-border electricity transmission project halkebar-Muzaffarpur has been constructed and put into operation already. Nepal's Prime Minister Anand Sharma and India’s Prime Minister Modi attended the ceremony of production.

This is one of the six major cooperation projects to strengthen cross-border trade in electricity between Nepal and India. And it’s also the first project launched. In addition it is the key point of the plan that Nepal is planning to import once more 600MW electric power by the end of year 2017.

Except for the cross-border electricity transmission project Dhalkebar-Muzaffarpur, Nepal and India are going to construct another five 400kV cross-border electricity transmission projects including the projects Sunauli-Gorakhpur, Duhawi-Kataiya, Kohalpur-Lucknow, Tikapur-Baleri and Rasuwagadhi-Kerung.
