Except nuclear power Chinese companies have participated in the construction of power projects covering all areas including coal-fired generation, solar power generation and large hydro-power etc. in Sub-Saharan Africa. Conversely OECD countries avoid to invest in large hydro-power or coal-fired generation in Africa.
According to figures Chinese companies have invested nearly $13 billion totally in the region from 2010 to 2015. Generally speaking the aim of China investing in power projects in Sub-Saharan Africa is to expand its electric power coverage.
